In Utah, one in five new moms report their pregnancy was unintended, and that number jumps to one in three among uninsured women. One of the most important tools for preventing unintended pregnancy is contraception. However, there are economic and geographic barriers to contraceptive care in Utah.
Some women live hours from a health center that provides comprehensive contraceptive care, and many women cannot afford birth control. Additionally, there are several providers in Utah who need training on IUD and implant provision. Family Planning Elevated was created to address these issues and we are on a mission to train physicians and advanced practice clinicians in Utah on evidence-based, best-practice, patient-centered reproductive health care and help connect Utahns to those providers. The passage of a Medicaid Family Planning Waiver in Utah is monumental, and Family Planning Elevated is here to support health centers in capacity-building and staff and provider training so that women in Utah can access contraceptive care, in their own communities, and without financial obstacles.
We are working towards a statewide, sustainable, and durable solution to meet the family planning needs of Utahns, and we need your help. We are raising funds to cover the costs of trainings and operations, educational materials and outreach, and to provide grants to health centers to build capacity and meet the contraceptive needs of their patients. Together, we can work to improve the lives of women through contraceptive access. Please consider donating what you can today. Every $20 helps!
