Donate to HER Salt Lake
The Her Salt Lake Contaceptive Initiative provided more than 7,000 people with free birth control in just 12 months. This means more Utahns have the opportunity to complete their educational goals, obtain economic success, and achieve their desired family size.
From March 2016 to March 2017 HER Salt Lake covered all the costs for any eligible patient in need of contraception at participating Planned Parenthood health centers in Salt Lake County
HER stands for highlty effective reversible contraception. This includes IUDs and implants, which are the most effective methods, but also have the highest up-front costs. When cost barriers were removed in Salt Lake County, IUD and implant uptake more than doubled, from 20% to 44%.
Women in Utah need access to contraception, and while HER Salt Lake provided free birth control for one year, we need a durable solution to continue contraceptive care.
The politcal terrain has shifted dramatically - and while we will continue seeking public support to expand access to family planning services - we need community support to continue and expand contraceptive coverage to the Utah women who need it most.
While $1 million dollars will overcome the barriers for IUDs and implants in Salt Lake County for 1 year, HER Salt Lake is raising $10 million dollars to expand the program statewide while we seek a durable solution. Eliminating barriers to all methods of contraception, especially highly effective methods, supports the hopes and dreams of Utah women and their families while saving the State significant funds.
Please help us demonstrate to other conservative communities how to be progressive in creating opportunities for women.
